TransLife and local hospitals share the responsibility of ensuring that every family is given the option to donate life.
All patients should be considered for donation because criteria change frequently. For this reason, federal laws require hospitals to notify their local Organ Procurement Organization of every death and every imminent death so appropriate evaluations can be performed.
Your call can save a life. Early notification increases the chance that organs and/or tissue can be successfully donated to save and improve lives.
To refer a potential donor to TransLife, please call our 24-hour number: (800) 458.7570.
Any hospital employee may notify TransLife of a patient's death, but only a TransLife coordinator or "hospital-trained requestor" may approach a family to request donation.
